Pebblebee’s new trackers are brighter, louder, thinner, and more colorful

Pebblebee’s new trackers are brighter, louder, thinner, and more colorful

Pebblebee has announced new versions of its AirTag-like Clip tracker and wallet-sized Card tracker. The new Clip 5 features a similar design to the previous version with a built-in loop for attaching it to a keychain but includes improvements focused on its personal safety features, plus more color options. The new Card 5 is 30 percent slimmer than the old Pebblebee Card Universal making it easier to stash in a wallet, and you no longer need to keep tabs on a proprietary cable to charge it.

Both the Clip 5 and Card 5 are available starting today for $34.99 each, and each are compatible with either Apple’s Find My or Google’s Find Hub networks — but not simultaneously. During setup you’ll need to select which of the two networks you’ll want to use them with.

Pebblebee says it has increased the durability of the new Clip 5 tracker and upgraded it with a louder buzzer and brighter LEDs, improving its use as a panic alarm. The lights and sounds are triggered by rapidly pressing a button on the tracker, which also sends a notification to an emergency contact with a link to your location. That Alert feature is free, but Pebblebee also offers a subscription version called Alert Live that can share your real-time location with more people in an emergency.

Even with the brighter LEDs and louder alarm, the Clip 5 still features a battery good for up to 12 months of use that can be recharged using a standard USB-C cable. It’s available in a new graphite color, but Pebblebee is also introducing a program called Evercolor where every 12 weeks the Clip 5 will be available in two new limited edition colors, while the previous two are retired. At launch, the Evercolor color options include emerald storm and amethyst purple.

At 1.8mm thick, Pebblebee’s new Card 5 is now one of the thinnest card trackers on the market, bested only by the 1.7mm thick Ugreen Finder Slim. But while Ugreen’s card tracker offers just 12 months of battery life, Pebblebee’s Card 5 works for up to 18 months, and when it dies you won’t have to hunt for an obscure charging cable. The Card 5 is now charged wirelessly and its battery can be topped off using the same wireless chargers you use with your phone or wireless earbuds.

While the Clip 5 can hang off a bag or zipper and will often be visible, the Card 5 is instead designed to be buried in a wallet, billfold, or passport holder. As a result, Pebblebee is not including the wallet tracker in its new Evercolor program, so it’s only available in a single gray/black color option.
