Three years after its announcement, Analogue is finally shipping the Analogue Duo: a modern reimagining of NEC’s systems that can play games made for the TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine, SuperGrafx, TurboGrafx CD, PC Engine CD-ROM, and Super Arcade CD-ROM. In an update on Friday, Analogue says the Duo will start shipping on December 11th and is on track to be delivered before Christmas.

The Duo was initially set to launch in 2021, but that date kept getting pushed back until the company finally started taking preorders in May. Priced at $249.99, the machine supports both wired and Bluetooth controllers and is capable of running games in up to 1080p with “zero lag.” Just like the Analogue Pocket, the Duo relies on the actual game cartridges and discs — not emulation.

Analogue has an update on the Pocket as well, the all-in-one handheld that can play games for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and more. If you haven’t had the chance to get ahold of one yet (there have been quite a few special-edition releases), Analogue says it will restock the $219.99 Pocket on December 4th at 11AM ET, with delivery expected before Christmas. There will also be another restock event on December 8th at 11AM ET, but devices ordered at that time aren’t expected to ship until February 2024.

Additionally, Analogue says Pocket OS version 1.2 will be released in early December, with many “important” bug fixes, new controller support, Nanoloop updates, and openFPGA developer features. Pocket OS version 2.0 will come out before Christmas, offering Original Display Mode support for openFPGA as well as a new CRT Trinitron Original Display Mode. These new display modes simulate the look of old-school screens — a feature already available for cartridges — to give you a more authentic-looking retro gaming experience.

As for Pocket accessories, Analogue is releasing a limited-edition white dock on December 4th for $129.99. It’s also pushing back the release date of the Pocket Adapter Set to February 2024, which means we’ll have to wait a little longer to be able to use TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Atari Lynx, and SuperGrafx cartridges with the Pocket.
