OnePlus won’t release a foldable phone in 2025

OnePlus won’t release a foldable phone in 2025

OnePlus says it won’t launch a new foldable phone this year, axing expectations that the company was prepping a proper sequel to its Open foldable from 2023, 9to5Google reports. A new OnePlus “Open 2” could have followed the blueprint of its subsidiary company Oppo’s new ultra-thin Find N5 that’s launching in China and internationally next week, but it (like many Oppo devices) won’t make it to the US. OnePlus’ last foldable device, the limited edition “Apex Edition” launched last year, but it really only brought a new crimson look with maxed out specs.

In a OnePlus Community post, the company’s product manager Vale Gu writes that Oppo will be taking the lead in the foldable segment and OnePlus will “pause on foldable for this generation.” However, Gu clarifies this doesn’t mean OnePlus is departing from the category, rather a “recalibration.”
