The Miniroll Bluetooth speaker is a return to form for Ultimate Ears

As its name suggests, that familiar form factor has been shrunk to a diameter of around 4 inches (105mm), and a thickness of 1.9 inches (48mm) — making it easier to fit into pockets or smaller bags. The Miniroll weighs 9.8 ounces (279g) and still features a built-in strap that can be used to attach it to things like bags and belt loops. Ultimate Ears also says that the speaker is “drop-proof” up to heights of around 47 inches (1.2 meters) and carries an IP67 rating against dust and water — meaning it can withstand being submerged for up to 30 minutes.

The strap adds a smidge to the mentioned diameter, but gives you some flexibility in where you can place it.

The Miniroll is rechargeable via USB-C, and the company claims that battery life should last for up to 12 hours of playback. The Bluetooth range reaches up to 40 meters until you add things like walls. There’s also a “PartyUp” feature to pair multiple Miniroll speakers together for more volume, but it doesn’t support connecting to the company’s Boom-branded speakers.
